Hi guys,
Here are my system specs:
Case: Zalman z3 plus
MB: asus m5a99x evo r2.0
CPU: AMD FX 6300
COOLING: Cryorig H7
RAM: Corsair Vengance 4x4gb 1600mhz

I know there are a lot of posts out there but I was unable to find one that matched my needs. I was thinking of overclocking my cpu and I was wondering if someone has overclocked the FX 6300 on this particular motherboard or a similar one and if they would be able to give some pointers on what the bios settings are.

Turn off turbocore , set your multiplier to 20.

Never found a 6300 that won't do 4ghz on stock voltage on a decent board.
Past that you're going to have to voltage tinker mate .

Give it a play at that .

Stress test with prime 95 or Intel burn test .

Keep amd overdrive on screen for core temps & load , you want solid 4ghz clocks & thermal margins above 10c at all times ( you won't have an issue with an h7)

Use cpu-z while you're testing for the core voltage under load.

Post that info back here when you're done & I'll help you push it further.

Hi MadMatt 30,
I managed to overclock my cpu to 4.3ghz based on this youtube tutorial: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T9uXysmgPi8&t=55s

These are the results in windows

I'll make some screenshots of the bios as well so you can check the settings, maybe I missed something. Running aida 64 for over 10 minutes, the cpu temps are at 53c.
Here are the BIOS screenshots:

Looks good mate , you could likely drag your CPU voltage down a bit if you wanted.
Not a necessity with that board & the h7 but lower is always better imo.

What's it showing in cpu-z as core voltage when you're running aida64??

Are clocks all rock steady at 4.3 under aida ??
I ask because I have to enable hpc mode or I get drops now & then.

4.3ghz is a good speed to be at mate anyway IMO.
Its about the optimum before you have to start pushing big voltage increases for very little extra performance

Thanks for the info. I ran aida64 and had cpu-z running at the same time. The core speed dips from time to time from 4314.39 to 4313.62. The screenshot I am sending you is the steady number: http://www.fileshare.ro/en/e3172346928
I wonder if I could bump it up to 4.5 ghz with this voltage?
