So I recently bought a gtx 970 to run in my system with my fx 6300 clocked @ 3.76 GHz with a stock cooler. I get frequent framerate drops in games such as battlefield 4 and attribute that to a weak cpu. I have an MSI 970-G46 Motherboard which according to many reviews is horrible for overclocking and will burn out if it is overclocked on. How much performance increase in games like battlefield will I get buying for instance a hyper evo and overclocking? Should I save my pennies and switch platforms to a 4690k which would be a shit load more money? btw I also plan to buy a more airflow optimized case if I switch motherboards from this 970 chipset to 990fx or z97(if I go intel). Basically I want to know is overclocking an fx 6300 going to change its bad frame drops and whatnot.

Solution
Overclocking will help in your case , however I wouldn't suggest it on your current Mobo as it will burn :)

Intel would be a good but not very sensible choice as you'll be paying about $300-$350 for increased CPU performance in your case ! Not worth it for me.
