fx 6300 overclocking temps

How long were those tests running for? It all depends on the length, because that does matter, since P95 ups the difficulty the longer that it runs for. In fact, when I was OCing my 6350 on my air cooler at 4.5 GHz, it was fine at around 57C for the longest time. But at roughly the 5 hour mark, I noticed the temps had ratcheted up to around 60C. That was too close to the recommended safe limit of 62C for me personally, so I stopped the tests and cut back to my already known stable & safe 4.4 GHz.

TL;DR: How long has the test been running? You need to run P95 for a long time.

I run a fx6350 55-60c 100% load folding @home on air 8 hours a day (i live in Hawaii temps here are higher). Looks fine to me, unless liquid cooling is suppose to be better than air.... My R9 280 hits about 72c on air doing @home for ref. This system will be two years old next Feb'15 no issues yet.

i have the fx6300 u think our safe temperatures are the same??

The CPU core temp max safe limit is 62C. That is not just my chip, that is what AMD says is the limit for 6300 & 6350 CPUs. You can posdsibly go beyond that, but it is highly not recommended to do that. I would try to stay below 62C, or below 60 if you really want to play it safe like I do.

Also, a half hour isn't very long, as I said I ran mine more than 5 hours before it got up to near unsafe temperatures. However, I wanted to ensure that my CPU was very stable, if you don't want to run P95 for the recommended 12 hours, just run it as long as you think you will ever use your PC in one sitting. Stability is relative to your uses and needs.

Final note: That overclock is definitely way too good to last. You need to run P95 longer to see if any errors pop up. You're at 4.6 GHz running only ~.02V higher than stock? Unless your chip is absolute top .1% of chips manufactured, that's likely not to last too long. That's below the stock voltage of my 6350 when it is running at 4.2 GHz!

i'm actually running at 1.4volts
and put on cool and quiet so im only 4.6ghz when it needs it and the max now seems to be 15c or lower
you think i should still run it for that long even if im getting good temps and its gonna be mostly on idle ?

Well in that picture you were at 1.376 volts.

I think you're wrong about that 15C, that is definitely not a max temperature. In fact, that's not even a minimum temperature. I have no idea where you got that number from, unless you live on the summit of the Himalayas . (joke). You must be reading numbers wrong somewhere, because the lowest idle temperature that I have ever seen personally was 24C, and that was with a much cooler CPU, non overclocked, on a really high end custom water loop.

If your PC is mostly going to be on idle, you shouldn't be overclocking in the first place. The whole goal of overclocking is to get more performance out of your CPU when it is pushed to the limit. If you just like browsing reddit or YouTube, overclocking will do absolutely nothing except raise your power bill. Only overclock if you need it to boost performance in intense situations. Otherwise, it is a huge waste of time and money.

lol no at idle that's my temp because the cpu drops 2 1.8ghz
i game for about 2 hours or so straight normally take alot of breaks and the volts where set to 1.4 i just checked it again to make sure
