fx 6300 overheating while overclock

i am a overclocking noob and i just overclocked my fx 6300 to 3.6ghz to start it off. i have a msi 760gma p34fx (i know it has vrm heating issues so i put heat spreaders and now thats not a problem) because i have a stock cooler i am not expecting ground breaking and no more than like 4.0ghz. when i overclocked the cpu i disabled c1e, cool and quiet, and turbo. i changed no other settings other than the multiplier to 18x. the voltage is on auto. when i booted into windows i loaded up prime 95 to test it and it was stable but the temps went from 54c at 3.5ghz to 61c at 3.6ghz. i know i am going to have to change the voltage to make it cooler but i dont know where to start . can you tell me a safe voltage to start off and then lower from

Don't use Prime 95. I like OCCT. You should see better temps on OCCT.

get a after market cooler if you want to overclock or the cpu life span will be shorter .

you never know the more it run hot less it could be working .

It only heats up in prime 95 because the fan was only spinning at 75% for some reason now I have it at 3.8ghz and it only goes to like 58c because the fans spin at 100 and the vrm temp stays between 60c and 80c

dont go over this until you get a after market cooler and keep a eye on temp does the air flow in system is good since your vrm tend to run hot .

yeah i am not going to go above 3.8 until i get a better cooler

if you have good air flow it will be ok but why you dont use msi overclock genie for your cpu from the motherboard .

oh i tried it and it gives extremely!!! unstable results

then go on with what you did and check the cpu voltage not to overpass it safe value .

the max voltage is 1.248 which is pretty safe
