FX 8120 HELP

So i am going to pick up an FX 8120 tommorow, and im wondering if it will be a good switch, Or if i should go to another processor (only paying $100 for this new) I run 8 GB DDR3, GT 520, and im getting the asrock 970 E3 with it. Currently running a dual core Athlon x2 220. Will this be worth it, Any other processors better for the price?

$100? Tough to beat that price for an 8120. And no, I know of nothing even close at that price.

the 4300 would likely game better because piledriver gaming performance improved by almost 15 percent. The 4170 would be a foolish choice over a 8120 at that price.

Remember, the 8120 has an unlocked multiplier for overclocking and you can shut down cores or modules. Much more powerful flexible than any 4000 series chip.

The better binned parts were sold as 8150's? Brilliant Sherlock. They werent sold as 4170's either.

The 8120 will have little trouble hitting 4ghz and a good chance for 4.5. And thats with all 4 modules. Shut down a module or two and you might hit 5ghz.

The 4170 shouldn't even be a consideration.

But a 1ghz clock difference, Wont out-perform, an 8 core, Plus i can oc to 3.8 and match the 4300.

If you overclock it is a good purchase just remember an aftermarket cooler.

For that price the fx8120 is okay however I would gert a decent graphics card something like a hd 7850.

Well right now, The GT 520 is good for me, But in the near future im gonna move up to a 7870, Of if i can afford, A GTX 680
