My friend is looking to upgrade the rig he currently has ( FX 4300 & R9 280x ) and he doesnt want to buy the FX 8350 because it costs almost 190 euros here. There is also an FX 8300 for 130 euros and I am wondering how well the fx 8300 overclocks compared to a fx 8320 / 8350.

The system has a power supply and motherboard that can handle an overclocked fx 8350

Solution
The problem with the 6300 is that it has fewer cores and for video editting and streaming he may want to upgrade very fast. He may look into an fx 8320 or maybe go intel.

EDIT : The FX 8370 is priced around 15 euros under the FX 8350 atm so my friend has decided to get that :)

Has your friend considered the FX 6300?

I have an 8320 myself. I OC it to 4GHz...though i have to reset the CMOS every so many months...but that's another topic... which i made a few threads down :p
Sorry Not trying to derail! :)

Anyway, my issue aside(which i don't know for certain is because of my OC) I don't think you can go wrong with any of the 83 lineup. I read about the 8300 awhile and from what i could gather, it came down to the fact that the 8300 is just lower binned than the 8320/50, but you could lucky in the silicone lottery and get a good chip. Either way, even if it isn't the greatest chip, i do believe you will be able to hit 4+ GHz with an 8300 with proper cooling.
I have the Noctua NH-D14. I highly recommend it.
