yea you do realize it was ONLY running 1 core NOT all 8 so that is pointless. 1 8GHZ core is not more powerful than 8 3.5 GHZ cores.
FX was never better than intel ever (At least not against their i5's and up) and defiantly not a good buy today. I mean for a cheap build sure but you need good cooling for the FX CPU's though. My H110i playing games has a hard time keeping my 4.5Ghz Overclocked on all 8 cores cool even idle anymore.
If you want to do some solid overclocking go for the FX-9590. Oh god, remember having 6GHz on that.
But seriously, don't waste your money on FX's, much more affordable to go with an Intel-K Edition, as they are actually meant for overclocking.
Not unless you are going to run a liquid nitrogen set up. If so, that chip will still no longer hold any world records. The fx is a dying platform. Either go Ryzen or something from Intel. No one is going to reccomend the CPU you suggested.

I have had a 8320 OC'ed to 4.5 on a H100i for almost 3 year now without issue. Even with a full 1 GHz over normal stock (not including boot) that chip still never came close to the intel's of 3 year ago. I just bought it because i needed better and a CPU, Mobo, SSD, Water Cooler, RAM, and PSU cost me the same as a i5 + Good Motherboard at the time. It is still great to me to this day as I don't game as much anymore so no need for more power.

I don't see what's so impressive about 8GHz, Intel beat that 10 years ago:
That's 6 years before there was a Firestrike, and even before DX11. But if the object is to do less work in tinier steps faster, the P4 beats the Piledriver by a mile.
You realise Ghz is a meaningless number on its own. Even with a massive overclock the FX series are destroyed in performance terms by Ryzen and most modern Intels. In a lot of tasks even the basic cheap G4560 keeps up or beats a FX8350.
I run a i7-7700 myself for my gaming with 1060,,and it runs Witcher 3 at High settings at over 200 fps..and CPU with EVO 212,,and it never gets after 6 hours straight playing over 60c !Im a Intel man after this but the Ghz i read on The x-8320 o thought would be a good topic,,,!!OS Windows 10,,16gb 2400Mhz.On a Asus Prime Plus Board.I think you cant get much better for 1200 Dollars!
You would be mad to spend $1200 on any FX setup. It reads like your suggesting the FX8320 is better than other options? I struggle to believe anyone would suggest that.
Was just reading this,,like i said i run a i7-7700 with 1060 and can run Witcher 3 all day and it never goes over 60c!It has a Evo 212 and on Asus Prime board at 2400Mhz..And thats it,,you cant get better than that,,i read were guys are running Witcher at 70-80c!
SMH. Yea i got a FX 8320 still with a GTX 960 4GB and I'm starting to see the slower FPS in newer games. I still don't need to upgrade but still won't says go and buy a FX CPU. I mean the only good thing about them is they are cheap as hell now lol
