Okay, so maybe it's not that loud. But it's loud when I game. Granted, headphones usually nullify most the noise. Heck, if the game isn't quiet, speakers on a not too high a level do that, too. But, I want it to shutup completely. Well, I want it to get as quiet as 30 to 40 dollars can make it.

I did some googling and felt kinda clueless as to which aftermarket cooler I should get. So in general, what should I be looking for in the cooler? Besides, you know, people saying how cool it keeps their CPU underload. Also, suggestions are welcome.

For info purposes, I have a fractal case (the quiet one with the noise absorbing walls) with three fans (basically inaudible on their own) with the following system:

MOBO: Asus M5A97 LE R2.0
CPU: FX-8320
GPU: GTX 660 (Asus as well, I believe)
8 GB RAM (1600, DDR3)
Shitty-ass 7200 rpm 150 GB HDD

Also, another question. I just did a bout of ACBF and had "open hardware monitor" running while playing also this and a few other tabs open. It said my average temp across cores was usually in the 40-44C range. This seems wrong, seeing that people report the same thing on these after market coolers. Is the main difference is that they move heat more discretely? Mostly just wanted to know so I can make sure the program is reliable.

Maybe because Zach mentioned UK further up. Brains work like that :). Anyway, on the Thermis, apparently it's quite loud (though obviously not nearly as much as the stock fan) due to the high RPM fan, so the Ereboss, with the bigger and slower spinning 140 mm fan could be a better recommendation for OP.
