So title says it however there are a few constraints.
I would like to save as much money while still getting as much as I can and with that being said the i5 is $100 more expensive.

Does it perform (the i5) $100 better or should I go for the 8320 and pocket the cash?
I mostly play League of legends, with the occasional MMO, and a few steam games. The most intense game I play is SC and on that game I believe the 8320 may outshine the i5 since the extra 4 cores will help it out. But I'm asking for a more overall general QoL experience, is the i5 worth 100 dollars more or will I barely notice a difference?

Addidtional details:
8gb RAM at 1600
r9 285 or gtx 760 (most likely the 285)
cooling with a 212 evo

yes the intel will always give better performance while in some games the 8320 might get as high of fps it will not even come close to maintaining the minimum fps which is what makes it feel smoother. The single core strength of the 4690k is gonna make it better in 99% of games.

The i5 with a Z97 board will give you a much better upgrade path. You will be able to go i7 or Broadwell if needed.

In some games the difference can be significant, but in some the 8320 will match the 4690K.

If you live in the U.S. and near a Micro Center, you can get a 4690K for $199 plus tax.

I dont know whether I5 crushes or make a stew out of AMD.. 😛
Bt im in person using FX 8320 and R9 280..
Give a name and it will nail it.
With Vsync tunred all, most of the demanding games where locked at 60fps, random fps drops will be there, bt you will defntly get 50+ fps (including watchdogs, ghosts, black flag n so).. For battle field it will be locked at 60 always.
And if you are clubbing it with 285, it will defntly rocked the system.
I was unaware of 285 when i bought 280.. 🙁 And didnt had the budged to go for a 180X or 190 as well.

Im saying it from my experience.
