By mutli-tasking I mean lots of chrome and YouTube paused tabs up, a bunch of start-up applications, maybe 1 heavy game minimized in the task bar, a couple word documents up, and eventually (not initially) have a second monitor with other things. Which of these would be better so that my computer would't lag or stop responding, and would still process quickly?

Specs if AMD is Chosen:
Asus Sabertooth 990FX R2.0 ATX AM3+
Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO 82.9 CFM Sleeve Bearing
G.Skill Ares Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1866
MSI GTX 970
Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM
Crucial M500 240GB 2.5" SSD

Specs if Intel is Chosen:
Asus Z97-A ATX LGA1150
Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO 82.9 CFM Sleeve Bearing
G.Skill Ares Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1866
MSI GTX 970
Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM
Crucial M500 240GB 2.5" SSD

Let me know if you need anything other info! Thanks!

Solution
I'd go with the newer MX 100 SSDs if possible, and if you're not overclocking, the Xeon 1230/1 v3 would be preferable. If you are, go for the 8320 or 8320E.

I realized that I didn't add the specs I would use if I went with the i5. My bad. I'm not trying to convince you one way or another, I just don't want to withhold any info that may affect your suggestion. Sorry about that!

Thaks for the post. If you know, what cooler would you recommend for the Xeon processor if it was in a 400R case? Air cooling would be preferable. Thanks!
