My computer is reallllllyyy slow in terms of playing games.

I just recently got a used msi 970 for a decent price to make up for the 970 sli but it really does nothing to improve my game play performance.

My computer was running fine when running on single 970 but after I upgraded, the computer is 1) not making any difference in gaming performance 2) Damn hot (60-70 Celsius on load) 3) Computer randomly shuts down on me and shows errors on the latest Windows 10.

I do realise that the obvious bottleneck would be the 8350 but, before it was running fine and games would not randomly shut down on me neither would the OS. I'm really worried this might be effecting the computer system.

Any suggestions what could be the possible problem ?

Did you remove/reinstall GPU drivers after adding the second 970? Could be a driver conflict causing the crashes.

The temps will depend on the case - you have a second GPU pushing more warm air into the environment.

As for poor performance; some titles that do not work with SLI, can actually have negative performance impacts with a secondary card installed.
What titles are you playing?

1) Not all games utilize SLI, driver support nowadays is really poor.
2) Not at all is that hot, take it from someone who had GTX 780's in SLI, top card on average was around 85C and your cards are well below the safe running temp.
3) Try removing your original card and just using the used card and see if the shut downs stop. Also either note what the error says or screenshot it and post it here as it will give us a better idea of what's going on.

Hi,

Thanks for the super fast reply.

Yes, I did remove and reinstall the latest nvidia drivers the and I did enable the SLI option in the settings.

I first tried playing casual CS Go it would run fine but then the game would close whilst im in-game.

I thought it might be just normal for a couple of times then I moved to Far Cry 5 that game won't even go past the continue game option in the start screen.

Last I tried watch dogs 2, again would start up and play for a few minutes before freezing or shutting down.

I'm not sure, before for the single 970 I had the aerocooler 500w psu which was running fine.

I just got the 850 GQ today and the 970 so I plugged everything and installed the drivers etc and the problems started to occur only when I open games but not when running browser or listening to music.

I've kept everything stock all default settings in BIOS.
