I have a fx 8350 @ stock planning to oc it atleast @ 4.4.. Im in the point where I can't choose on what to buy.. Gtx 970 price in my country really went down I was going to buy one but gtx 1060 showed up and I really want to have it the fact that it is newer.. Disregarding the minor bottleneck which card is better to go with ? I was about to include rx 480 here but I can't wait anymore for the custom cards..

Solution
AMD processors can bottleneck slightly when being used with Nvidia GPU's purely because they are based around intel built systems. AMD's equivalent of the GTX 970 is the R9 380 which in most cases beats the 970 on fps depending on where you buy it from it can be more expensive or cheaper. if you do choose AMD then go for the R9 390X which beats the RX 480 by quite a milestone

@ Rambo11 ....Why do people keep thinking that AMD-CPU works better with AMD-GPU, and Intel-CPU with Nvidia-GPU? This is NOT true!

To answer your question dlare01, either GPU will work. For the same price I would chose the GTX1060, if the RX480 is a little cheaper go for it. I will only get the GTX970 if you can get a great deal on it.

Yes I agree, im not seeing the first posters logic there.

Amd gpus tend to be slightly lower performing than their nvidia counterparts, nvidia winning fps in 13 out of 21 games tested etc and where amd wins per game, the fps gap is smaller generally (5fps or less) whereas nvidia wins avg 5-10fps leads. Now add intel/amd single thread performance per clock into the mix, and in most games Intel holds a decent to serious edge there.

So intel/nvidia generally will outperform intel/amd, amd/nvidia and stands a good chance to seriously outperform amd/amd. This is a very broad outlook, covering hundreds of games, past and current and generally not an issue, but some specific games will suffer greatly with amd/amd vrs intel/nvidia simply due to the game engine optimization.

This only really applies to 1080p or lower, 1440p or better changes the rules

Oh, its 960/380, 970/390, 980/390x generally.

how about the performance between the cards ? since I don't have plans yet on upgrading my fx 8350 to intel .. Is it a good idea to go on more powerful 1060 or just go to 970? rx 480 is not an option today..

How much cheaper can you get the 970 for? I would only get a 970 over a 1060 if it was quite a bit cheaper, FX cpu or not. In many games that cpu should utilize a 1060 just fine.
