FX 8350 Heatsink not compatible with mobo?

Hi. I am new to the cpu world and I am trying to install a heatsink for my new FX-8350 onto my Gigabyte GA-970A, but it appears I do not have a mount on which to install the heatsink. There are also 4 holes for screws around the processor which I assume is where the mount would go. If anyone knows, how would I find a mount to buy? Thanks

What heatsink did you purchase? It should have instructions right on it. The AMD set up hasn't changed for ages, so it should be compatible if it was ever intended to be used with AMD boards.

I am using the heatsink that came with the fx8350.
I forgot to mention that when I first got my pc it was a prebuilt with liquid cooling so there is no mount at all.

AM3+ has the mounting solution built right in, and hasn't changed in ages. It should look like this:

Your water cooler may have had a different mounting solution, but i really don't think so.
The cooler should just clip on using the edges you can see in the top portion.

You could buy the stock backplate and bracket from somewhere like eBay, just search for 'AMD Bracket' -
