Hi all,

I plan on upgrading from a Phenom 955 to an FX-8350.
My current motherboard is a:

GA-890FXA-UD5

Gigabyte says the 8350 is compatible with this mobo but only revision 1.0, 3.0 and 3.1 but CpuID says my revision is 02 which I'm assuming is 2.0.

Does this mean I must get a new motherboard too or is there a work-around? Seems a little odd it would be compatible with the earliest version and the latest version but not the inbetween?

Thanks

If it correct yes you would need a new motherboard
BUT.. I have a older motherboard and was in your exact situation just different hardware but CPU-Z said that my mobo was revision 1.0 and i know for a fact it was a 1.0A, sooo CPU-Z inst always right i would look on the actual motherboard or the manual or the box of the motherboard or something, mine told me on the manual

Unfortunately 2.0.

Do you know a good replacement motherboard? Here's my current specs:

(Ordering) AMD FX-8350
MSI 680 GTX
4GB DDR3 1600mhz 7-8-7-24 ripjaws
850W Corsair TX Series PSU
Antec 1200 Full Tower Case

Do you have a price range?
