Hi

I have an FX-8350 which I used to overclock to 4.5ghz (for about 2 years) with AMD overdrive built into the CCC.

I recently upgraded from an HD 6850 1GB to a GTX 960 4GB and now my CPU will only overclock to 4.1ghz

What am I doing wrong?

Spec:
AMD FX-8350
Gigabyte 970A-UD3 MB
16GB 1866mhz DDR3
GeForce GTX 960 4GB
120GB Sandisk SSD
Windows 8.1/64-bit
Jeantech 700w modular PSU

All the latest drivers installed.

Ok I just did this. Reinstalled only AMD overdrive and started stability test at 4.5ghz. After 10sec it gives this error and stops.

"FPU Test > An error occurs in the Taylor Series expansion of 1/(1-x) function"

I then ran the same test at 4.4ghz and got this response.

If I run the test again at 4.0ghz (stock) it runs OK.

Do I have a failed CPU or what's cooking?

Did you do the stability test while using your 6850 as well? You can try using Guru3D's Driver Removal Tool in Safe Mode first before installing the newest drivers.

Its unstable overclock, some parameters must be off, you need to tweak this little more, and your cpu should be fine since it defaults and runs with out issue. Overclocking takes time and patience.
