I have an FX 8350 that seems to have been giving me some trouble lately. I believe that it is overheating, causing my games to have massive FPS drops. When the drops happen, the vcore drops from around 1.35v to only 0.9v, and the temperature is around 67 or 68 degrees celcius according to SpeedFan. My chip is at stock settings cooled by a Hyper 212. Before I upgraded from a 270X to a GTX 770, I never had these problems. My guess is that maybe my 770 kicks out more heat causing higher ambiant temps all around. And another thing to blame is that now as we go into spring, the outside temperatures have been going up, in turn making my ambiant room temperature warmer. My fear is that it can only get worse as we approach summer. Is the overheating of the FX 8350? Or is it something like the NB or VRM/Mosfett. If it helps to know, my motherboard is a Asrock 970 extreme4. And my power supply is plenty ample for my set up which is an Corsair CX750M. So if it is that the CPU is throttling due to overheating, what can I do? Should I buy a better cooler like the H100i? If it is the VRM/Mosfett or NB, what should I do to fix that? Any other iedas? Thanks for the help!
