Fx 8350 Socket Overheating Durring Prime95 + Furmark Stress Test

I recently have been stress testing my Gpu and Cpu for stability in my overclocks, and if I run Prime95 or Furmark individually I run into no issues. But, when I run both stress tests at the same time the Cpu socket will overheat to 80 C within 30 min needing a manual shut down. Is there any real world situation in which both the Gpu and the Cpu would be pushed this hard at the same time, or is this just a result of the stress tests?

Yeah, if you're pushing the processor that hard, on a stock cooler, it will reach those temps pretty easily. I had an 8350 before I switched to Intel. Running graphically heavy games on the stock cooler on the 8350 would usually push it to around 70 C

But to answer your question, you're probably not going to encounter a real-world situation that will push your hardware that much. Usually a processor won't be damaged until it reaches 100+ C but it would be wise to invest in a third party cooler. I use a Thermaltake CL-P002-AL14RE-A on my Intel 5820k and it never goes above 42 C under heavy load.
