I currently have a Fx-8150 @ 4.20ghz because my crappy MSI-990FXA-GD65 motherboard sucks at overclocking past that or my chip is not that good. Anyways I'm reading the head-to-head comparisons on CPU Boss and other sites, and it looks like the 8350 is almost identical to the 8150. There has to a be good reason why the 8150 is discontinued, and a good reason for me to upgrade. For insight, I have a SSD, Gigabye 270x slightly overclocked. My fps is not really that great when I'm gaming in GTA5, ~41fps on 4x MSAA. This is partially a GPU question too, I'm sorry! Lastly, with that data, which GPU+CPU combo would give me 60FPS in GTA5 w/atleast 4x MSAA? I know intel cpus are much better at gaming because of the fast single thread processes, but let's pretend intel doesn't exist xD I want AMD to complement my AM3 mobo.

Firstly, read on how the FX-8350 Piledriver was improved over the FX-8150 in this article:
http://techreport.com/review/23750/amd-fx-8350-processor-reviewed

You could say the FX-8350 is 10-15% faster per core. I wouldn't upgrade before upgrading the graphics card though. And the recommended option for you would be to upgrade to Intel i5 probably, over buying a basically ''slightly'' better AMD FX-8320 (Would save you money over the FX-8350).

Depending on your budget, the R9 390X is the best graphics card below 400 dollars. It requires a 600 watts power supply or better. It's especially ideal if you had a PSU with 50A on the 12V rail, for the highest chance for optimal performance.

Fast response! Forsure, thats good to know! You're rig is like an intel mirror of my build, but you're getting ~60 fps /drool. Seems like I really do need a better gpu. Any suggestions on a 4gb+ vram gpu that will get me closest to 60 fps?

Otherwise either GTX 970 or R9 390 are just fine options for settings like that.

If your looking for a better gpu im a big fan of the sapphire 390 Nitro (with backplate) obviously budget dependant.. has 8GB of ram and competes with a 980 at higher resolutions.

With respect to the 8150 v 8350 situation, i cant quire remember but there was a pretty big issue with the 81xx cpu's which was corrected with the 83xx cpus i THINK.. it had something to do with power efficiency or something along those lines but was partially fixed with a driver update, but otherwise yeah, theyre pretty much the same
