So new PC build is coming up soon and I have to figure out between the 390x with amd CPU and 390 with Intel skylake CPU. So you might be wondering why not nvidia instead of AMD ? I've seen a recent benchmark of directx 12 between AMD and nvidia and AMD have more advantage than nvidia like a 390 have 15 fps more than nvidia gtx 970 in Hitman, Far Cry Primal, and the Quantum Break.

Here's the fx + 390x build. ( fx 8370 have the wraith cooler inside the box )

And here's the skylake + 390 build

As you can see, the skylake one cost much more than the full AMD one.
So better GPU or better CPU ?

I could just add up one ssd for the 390x build.

In modern well optimized games the i5 has around a 10% FPS advantage over the 8350/8370 given the rest of the system is identical. The 390x on the AMD side would even things out in GPU heavy games. The i5 would even things out on CPU heavy games.

All things considered, the current AMD platform is about to be replaced with ZEN this year. Being 4 years old it has little upgrade path and DDR3 RAM. The Skylake platform is much more current and has DDR4 RAM.

If you have to build now, go with the Skylake build. If you can wait, AMD Zen addresses the current FX performance and efficiency issues and should be a big improvement.
skylake + 390 build, 6600k is much much stronger processor itself will give you decently more fps over FX-8370 especially after overclock, is more future proof and will be able to upgrade GPU in the future without bottlenecking it. Also you have DDR4 ram :)

In this case, yes. The i5-6600k is a much stronger processor for gaming and will work at higher framerates. On top of that you have the benefit of DDR4 memory speeds, there is a significant difference in performance in favor of the i5-6600k+R9 390 build.
