FX-9370 compatibility check

I am building a new build for a friend and noticed that the AMD FX-9370 CPU was not listed as one of the supported CPUs for the Gigabyte GA-990FXA-UD3 motherboard. Will this combination still work?

Probably not. The 9370 has a massive TDP of 220W only a few boards can handle that.

I would recommend going with the FX-8350 and the board you currently have selected.

Well according to Gigabytes site it's not listed so it's not supported so no it's not going to work. If you put that CPU in there it might boot up but it will not run correctly so it's best to not even try.

I think it is better if he goes with the 8320 . It can easily reach 8350's perfomance and it is cheaper.

Last I checked I thought the UD3 was compatible. (I even considered getting it)

But regardless I've seen a lot issues with that model...better off with a UD7 if you can squeeze out the extra dollars.

Computer is built and is compatible with the parts in my original question (FX-9370 and GA-990FXA-UD3 Rev. 4). Ended up going with a CM V8 GTS CPU cooler, and temps are fine. Thanks all for your input.
