Hey all,

I'm going to be building up own gaming PC this winter and just wanted some advice. I'm trying to choose between the 9370 and 8370 processors, but I wanted to know your opinions on the pros and cons of both. I know the 9370 is faster and uses more power, but I'm afraid of overheating. I'm a dedicated gamer but won't be doing any overclocking. Any help is appreciated!

i have a FX8370E and it overclocks a little better than the previous 8350/8320 etc... so far passing all stress tests at 4.66 ghz @ 1.4 volts using GA-970A-UD3P and you can go a lil lower on the volts too... i suspect with a 990fx board these would be a dream but still no point in chooseing one over intel unless you are
doing something heavily multithreaded all the time... like streaming for instance (its arguably some 10% worse than a 4790k at this... depending on the clocks on both... game's fps however will be better with intel, the performance per clock of these chips are the same as it was nearly 2 years ago when visheras launched...

I have a 9370 and am extremely satisfied. I would however recommend a 120mm or 240mm radiator like this (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835181030&cm_re=h60-_-35-181-030-_-Product) for comfortable temperatures and over clocking headroom. Hope this helps!

The 9370 is basically just an 8370 with a higher vcore and mutliplier resulting in a 220w TDP as opposed to a 125w TDP... that's potentially a lot of heat and you're going to need a motherboard and cooling system to cope with that. But on a good note, the 9370 (where I'm from) is just ~£10 more than the 8370 so I'd go for it over the 8370, but then the 8370 is ~£20 more than the 8350 which isn't warranted in the 100MHz extra clock speed and then you have the 8320 at ~£20 less than the 8350, which is the one I'd go for; But then the prices might not be like that at all where you live.
