Fx-9590 @4.7 ghz vs i7-4790k @4.0 ghz

Solution
4790k hands down

Pros for 4790k
Less watts used (88w)
Better Single core performance
Hyperthreading
Stock clocks
Won't need a windtunnel to cool it
Same price range as the AMD 9590

The 9590 was a total failure and a waste of money, loyalists to AMD bought it up, and I do love AMD (I await the news of a top end CPU) but no one would convince me that CPU was worth the salt of a stock 4790k.

What are you going to be doing? If you're just gaming, go with the Athlon X4 750, it's an amazing budget CPU, and it matches the i5-4670K in performance with a entry-level GPU. If you plan to render large 3D images or do serious scientific/mathematical calculations, or if you're hackintoshing, go the i5-4960K route. Both of those CPUs are seriously overkill.

Athlon matching the i5? I'm sorry, what? Sure if you get an awful GPU it'll be the bottleneck but if it's somewhat decent then there's a world of difference between the i5 and the athlon.

I mean, the fx 8350 at least has decent multithreading to actually justify it as a decent cpu. Anything past the 8350 wouldn't really be worth it. Even if you're not overclocking simply because at the price of anything above that you could get an intel CPU within the same range as the CPU + motherboard together...

Lol, funniest post of the year. Give this guy some kind of ribbon.

Get a 9800GTX while you're at it. Perform the same as a 290x.
