Hello everyone, first off i know my question is a repeated one from older multiple posts Ive read about compatibility of the fx series chips and running ram above 1866. so ill just tell ya my situation.
I'm building another PC with my old FX 8320 125 watt CPU that has a awesome overclock to 4.7GHz(anyway) I'm looking to take my g skill 1866 x series 9-10-9-28 2x8 16gb ram, out of my rig now to replace it with 2400mhz ram. my mobo is a ( asus m5a99fx pro r2.0) my ram is overclocked at this moment to 2179mhz with ram timing at 9-11-11-31 with no issues passes all memtest86+ ect.. i understand about raising ram voltage's along with cpu/nb voltages ect. my main question is if i buy 2400 ram will it work with the 9590 chip? at 2400 MHz even if i have to manually adj. every thing. i need to buy ram regardless just figure if i can upgrade id like to use 2400 if possible?
the 2400 ram is on my mobo qvl list and (pcpartspickers) says i have no conflicts with my system.
but Ive read a lot of posts saying that 2400 MHz ram will only run at 1866 due to the memory controller? again my 1866 ram is running at 2179 at the moment with no issues.
if 2400mhz ram is possible would running two duel sticks with 16gb or a full quad 4 stick set up be best based on the memory controller overload? thanks again!
