i just got done throwing together my new rig its as follows

FX 9590
Asus Crosshair V Formula Z
16GB 2400 ddr3 Gskill
Cooler Master 120m Saidon
WD Black 1TB

(thermal compound Arctic Silver 5 )
im just trying to figure out the max safe temp for the 9590 so that i can set up my temp program so that it shows warning before gets hot enough to damage my CPU or anything else only got the 120mm fan the cooler came with on but idle running 15c and under strain running ARK survival evolved for 3 hours hit max temp of 56c just trying to figure out what max temp is so can set up a safty shut off / sleep mode so dont get to hot and overheat or anything definetly going to be getting 2 aftermarket 120mm fans to put in a push pull config on the radiator but for now i just would rather be safe than sorry so was hopping for a bit of feed back on max safe temp hope to get some replys :)

Morning,

The max temperature for the FX 9590 is around 70c and up.

Sorry, I can't find any information about the max cpu temp for that CPU as even the AMD website it's self doesn't display it. Most CPU's however have max temperatures of 95c to 105c although some of my research concluded that it was around 70c. You will have to just make sure that you cpu temp is under 80c from my perspective.

You will know if you computer overheats when it randomly shuts it's self off 😀

install amd overdrive to check your thermal overheads

Coretemp is inaccurate mate.

Use amd overdrive & check your thermal margin with that as well as core temp.

You want a thermal margin of 10c+ clear under full load IMO to be ultra-safe.

Pretty sure you can set a temp alert on that boards bios mate - that will be more accurate than any software based ones.

Run a prime95 standard blend test mate & check thermal margin while its running.

In amd overdrive the higher the thermal margin reading under load the better - its the opposite to normal temp reading but much more accurate for high load temps.

Temps under heavy load are what matter - under 40c the temp sensor is wildly inaccurate & can't be trusted.

Those temps are absolutely excellent under a prime test mate - you have nothing to worry about at all.

You won't see those kind of loads under any normal usage.
20c in overdrive thermal margin means you have a full 20c clear overhead until the CPU hits its limit .

^ of course its creeping down - you're putting Zn artificial 100% load on all 8 cores.
The coolant will warm up more & more the longer you run it.

After 5 minutes of prime if the thermal margin is still double figures you are absolutely fine mate.

Stop the test - you're good.

You've got an obscenely good result there mate.
I'd generally rate the Seddon as 'barely' capable with a 9*** CPU but yours is doing a grand job

Most people would be down to 5 or 6c after 10 minutes of prime load.

You look to have a well binned chip with lower than normal voltage &/or very good case cooling too.
I'm not a fan of the fx9*** chips but its nice yo see someone put together a good component choice when they use one for a change.

i would like to set up a custom water loop when i can figure out how to properly cool it with enough cooling for dual 980ti and the cpu and still be able to overclock it all
