Hi, I saw some amd fx cpus for very low price, also even expensive mobos for them. What is wrong? I saw some peoples thats made builds, half or year ago. It's dying system? Have compatibility problems? Or something else? Why prices so drop?
Thanks.

Solution
Go for the CPU/mobo deal, that is unmatched performance you have there for the value.

FX CPUs are EOL, they are replaced by Ryzen, thats why they are cheaper.
If you want to go Intel you can choose the G4560 build above but your PC will lack multithread performance. And you need DDR4 RAM as well, which is not included in the list above.

For US$100 you cannot really get a good CPU/Motherboard setup. Consider expanding your budget.

The Ryzen platform has replaced the "fx" bulldozer architecture with improvements up to 52% IPC (instructions per clock) over the excavator (4th gen revision over bulldozer). Thus, the FX series is severely outdated. Its modules (two cores synergized as one) worked pretty decent with multithreading, but its single thread performance would yield disappointing results against Intel.

+1 to blackbird. end of life. kinda like buying an xbox 360 in 2017 when there's already an xbox one S on the current market stores' shelves.

A 4-core Ryzen is, in most cases, more powerful than an 8-core FX.

FX-8xxx systems are definitely usable everyday, but you can tell a noticeable difference with the newest Intel chips in things even like web browsing. FX excel at video conversion and things that can fully utilize all cores. Gaming...actually for older games, you want the higher IPC of an Intel or Ryzen chip, since they don't put all cores to use. FX has VERY low instructions per clock at stock speeds.

For ~$110-120 you can get an Intel CPU + mobo that will outperform FX CPUs in many games, and has an infinitely better upgrade path. There is some value in an FX if you're trying to build an super low budget workstation I suppose.

Both build has overclockable CPUs and a board that supports OC, and an aftermarket heatsink. Just choose you preference and enjoy gaming.
You also need to include a good GPU however.

I have to point out that you really would not want to upgrade to a powerful i5/i7 on that budget H110 board 😉

We were just talking about the cost of CPU + mobo. You'd have to buy RAM no matter what CPU you get, and DDR4 is no more expensive than DDR3. And yes, that build would lack multi threading performance, hence my comment about FX being OK for cheap workstation type applications.

Why not?
