Okay so looking to upgrade my PC. I'm going to be buying a new mobo, ram and processor.

I am sticking to AMD unless someone can tell me how to get a decent Intel in the price range of $200- $225 for all three of the above listed parts.

I am looking at the differences between the a10-7850k and something like the FX-6300 or FX-8320.

I already have a 750 ti sc. I have a couple of questions. regarding buying a new CPU.

1. If I already have a mid range graphics card like the 750 ti sc how important is integrated graphics like on the a10-7850k? Basically what I'm asking is will it work well in conjunction with my card on Direct x 12?

2. I'm looking at doing some video editing, mostly for hobby, however I'm also looking to run games in mid range. Which would be a better overall investment.

I hope that's all the info I needed for everybody. Thanks. Also the price on the 6300 helps as well.

8320 FX should do very well with the 750 ti and when you are set to upgrade, it'll handle superior GPU's (GTX 970) too without bottlenecking the GPU... A10-7850k with the 750 ti should do well with most modern games at 1080p though with less than very high settings. Above 1080p you're going to need to upgrade both to keep your frame rates up to where you want them...

Integrated graphics is only useful for troubleshooting in your build though directx might make use of the on-board graphics of the A10-7850k, how much we really don't know yet as DirectX 12 is just a baby yet to mature...

If you're doing much video editing, you'll most likely want the 8320 FX (over the 6300k/6350k), more cores are invaluable at video editing and the 8320 FX is one of the best. Hope this helps and feel free to ask for any more advice.

Well i don't plan on doing a ton of editing. I commentate for a pro-wrestling fed. So more or less it'd be whittling things down maybe screwing with the sound a little.

I've just heard some bad things about the a10 series. I've got plenty of time to make the decision. I guess i'm glad to know that I don't have to worry about the integrated graphics.

That and the lower price makes the FX-6300 look awfully good. I probably wouldn't get anything as crazy as a 970, but if i did upgrade to something higher end do you think the 6300 could handle it?

That would give you a decent upgrade path.

The above is not great because it uses the AMD stock cooler. It would be a good computer for video editing though.

You could upgrade to an i5 on the i3 design that I put up. You can put a Celeron(Downgrade)/Pentium G(Downgrade)/i3-4xxx/i5-4xxx/i5-5xxxC/i7-4xxx/i7-5xxxC

I have built all AMD machines up until my current one. (i5-4690k/MSI Z97S SLI Krait Edition/MSI GTX 970 2 Way SLI)

Yes, but I also moved from a 2012 CPU to a 2014 CPU, a traditional HDD to an SSD, and a single 760 to dual 970s. It isn't really a fair comparison. But in short, yes, but it isn't just the CPU that did it.

I see. I'm leaning towards the fx-6300 mainly because of the extra cores and the lower price. My only issue is longevity. I'm sure it'd be fine for a few years but I'm new to this. Either way I'm loving getting into PC hardware.

The FX-6300 is a three module CPU, six core CPU, it is kinda like hyper threading, the FX-6300 is about equal to an i5-750. You should get this motherboard if you are getting the FX-6300: http://pcpartpicker.com/part/gigabyte-motherboard-ga970aud3p

Will do thanks again.
