Should I get an AMD fx 4350 4.3 ghz or fx 6350 4.2 ghz for gaming. (graphics card is gtx 970 4gb) which one would give me better performace?

Does it have 2 x 6-pin PCIe power connectors? If not, it may be a "fake" 500W and not suitable for the GTX 970. In fact, even a good 500W is a bit light for both the 145W gfx card and the 125W CPU. And not enough for OC'ing.

No, but you may get get full benefit from the card in some games if the CPU has trouble keeping up with it. (CPU bottleneck) Won't happen in all games, and probably won't happen in single player gaming. But online gaming on a busy server with some of today's demanding games adds a lot of extra work to the CPU.

With a capable motherboard you can get the FX 6350 higher than 4.2 GHZ but honestly.....judging by the single core performance.....there is little or no difference at all between them 2 when it comes to gaming, even though Win10 will distribute the load across all 6 cores on the FX 6350. May I ask what power supply do you have and what motherboard? Wanting to OC is very different than being able to OC.
