FX60

Was wondering. I gave my brother my FX60 rig I made when I upgraded to a Q6600. Well, obviously this way a while ago since I upgraded to a I2500K a year ago. His games are choking on his rig which uses a Nvidia 9600GT. Was wondering if the FX60 is still a viable gaming chip for modern games? I realize the GPU has to go, but will the FX60 hold up or should I give him my beloved Q6600 which I use as a second computer?

I can plunker down a GTX580 or something, but will the CPU be a bottleneck?

GTX580 would be bottlenecked by FX60 more likely it could keep up with GTX550Ti and get improvement in games. The Q6600 would be better.

But is a FX60 with a GTX480 a stupid combo?

It will still be bottleneck, the king of the hill when FX60 was in its prime was GTX8800Ultra (GTS450 performance). I would at maximum say that it could deal with GTX460 1GB or a normal GTX560 (not Ti) with out to much of a bottleneck.
