I have an FX6300 overclocked to 4.1GHz. FSB is manual 200 and multiplier is 20.5 with voltage auto. My cpu cooler is hyper 212 evo My motherboard is a ga78lmt-usb3. My motherboard as a TDP of 125watt. My question is if I continue to OC up to say 4.4GHz will the wattage my cpu is pulling become unsafe for the motherboard?

Solution
Yeah it's safe. If you start getting errors, you'll have to increase the voltage. Check your temperatures as well and make sure they don't go over 65C

don't set the voltage on auto. It will likely set the voltage higher than necessary.

I don't know if you'll reach 4.4Ghz will that cooler or not though. I don't think there's anything to worry about regarding your motherboard.

I am running at 4.2GHz now. I tried 4.3 but started getting errors in prime 95. My voltage is 1.320 and hwmonitor reports max voltage 1.380 during torture test. Is that a safe voltage?
I am going to upgrade my motherboard when I get the cash. Looking at these two.

Ok thanks for the help. The highest temp I had in torture test was 58C on the vrm. General web browsing the vrm runs 30C My cpu topped out at 42C and runs 14C web browsing. I am going to just run the 4.1GHz because I don't feel comfortable with adding voltage manually.

In case anyone is wondering i'm currently running a fx-6300 at 4.5 Ghz (1.48 volts) on an msi 970a-G46 with a xigmatek gaia cooler. Been running like this for about 4 months with no problems and temps are nice and low.
