Hey guys, I just ran my fx6300 not overclocked, with the stock cooler and according to speedfan and CPUID HWMonitor my cpu temperature was about 90 degrees. This was only with 1 minute of prime95 stress test. Is this normal?

UPDATE!!! Just tested 30 seconds more and pc shutdown. 90 C DEGREES! HELP!!!

Do you think that the overheating problem is caused by bad positioning of the cooler and thermal paste? As this cpu hasn't been OCed and it is with the stock cooler. Surely the stock cooler should be able to keep it from overheating without being OCed.

I'd take a peak inside. make sure you have the heatsink on nice and tight. you could change the thermal paste if it looks good because something is definatly going on.

side note. what is the thermal limit of fx cpu's? I always hear it was 65c and when it got around 65-70 it would throttle or shutdown.
