FX8320-8350 Oced + Water Cooling vs i5 4690k Oced + Evo 212

Just ast the title say, Which should be better, the i5 and Evo cost around 250$, And with the AMD i can get a good Ocing with some good Water cooling with that 250$

PC mostly games, Streaming to Twitch meanwhile gaming, and a Bit of photoshop

The i5 would be better hands down.
Even under water cooling, the FX series has trouble keeping up with i5s, let alone the 4690k

The AMD will do pretty well with streaming and photoshop thanks to its extra threads.

Its a difficult decision.

In general, I5 for gaming every single time.
But once you consider streaming and content creation, an overclocked AMD does become a bit more attractive.

BUT do not get closed loop water cooling unless you get LARGE liquid coolers or custom loop water.

I suppose I should clarify. The i5 is far superior in terms of gaming, but AMD does close the gap in programs that can use its 8 threads, such as photoshop.

Since gaming was listed first, I took that as the top priority.

What is your total budget for CPU, motherboard and cooler?

Have you already bought all the components you listed?
Do you already have the storage and chassis?

In other words, what is your TOTAL budget for EVERYTHING you need?

You could get a Xeon for around that price. Can't oc it but it would game and really do anything well.

You have a very good point.

Although they have a lower clock rate than standard I5s and I7s, it would be the best of both worlds.

8 threads AND I5 / I7 class gaming performance.

I second that, a Xeon could be perfect in this situation.
Its great for gaming, and can handle the workload of rendering, photoshop, and streaming when needed.

1. STRONGLY suggest against getting that PSU, its NOT a trusted unit. A relaible 550w is MORE than enough for that system. Even with overclocking. Only get a 750w unit if you plan to SLI in the future, and then get a better unit.

Yeah same deal. The stock cooler should be ok with decent case cooling and Intel cpu's can actually run pretty warm with nothing to worry about.

The motherboard you chose will work just fine. There are not really any cheaper with the SLI option.
