I recently bought a fx 8350 not knowing my board wasnt compatible with cpus 95w or greater. Im looking at the GIGABYTE GA-970A-DS3P (rev. 2.0 and ASRock 970A-G/3. Which should i get. Dont plan on overclocking really. Just want to beable to run my games well.

You recently bought a 10 year old CPU? I would return it if you can and go for a low end ryzen build, it would perfom much better in games for around the same price.

To answer your question the gigabyte GA-970A-UD3 is probably the cheapest board with a decent VRM that will properly support a 125watt TDP cpu. The "best motherboard" would probably be the ASUS ROG Crosshair V, but I certainly wouldn't recommend you spend the money that would cost.

AMD FX-8350 Release Date. October 12th seems like a reasonable release date, just 2 weeks before Win8. Last edited by Zka17; 09-23-2012 at 01:44 AM.Sep 23, 2012 not close to 10 yrs old yet folks .

when I had my fx chip 8320 The best board I had was the gigabyte 990fxa which I had my 8320 overclocked to 4.5 ghz on air.

Yes, @Dunlop0078 exaggerated when he said 10 years old, but point still stands that buying a 6 year old CPU/mobo for gaming is a very questionable choice. A modern Pentium/Ryzen 3 (or even the new Ryzen Athlons) would probably as good or better performance in games and offer a much better upgrade path.
