FX8350 CPU Unlock In Bios?

My mobo is Gigabyte 990FXA-UD3 rev 4.0 and in the bios there is an option for cpu unlock? And I was wondering what that option does? im a little confused about that option?

That option unlocks the disabled cores on older CPUs (athlon, phenoms), it doesn't do anything with the newer FX CPUs.
