and really all we would need from each person is the GPU make and model, as the rest can be looked up, so, pointless thread is pointless

because the specs don't mean crap or picking a card (except the lower end ones where there is a choice between DDR2 and DDR3 memory). If you had people just look at specs, ATI cards would win (more stream processors), the better way is to just point them to benchmarks in game which will show the actual performance of the cards as opposed to specs which are pretty much meaningless (except for inter-architecture cards)
