I'll begin by thanking whomever reads this in advance, so, "Thank You!".

My current PC is a hodge-podge mix of an Acer Mid-tower case and Newegg.ca purchased upgrades... The original PC was a pre-built Acer branded contraption - purchased about 10 years ago @ Futureshop. 7 (or so) years ago I replaced the mobo/cpu/RAM/GPU/ and PSU. The DVD drive, the front multi-card reader, and USB ports all work. So I've never had a need to change out the relatively well-built case. The GPU crapped out on me and was replaced with what I'm currently using:

Zotac GTX750Ti 2Gb 128BIT GDDR5 GPU

Anyway, about 6 months ago I started experiencing issues where the PC would simply power-off. Almost as though the plug was yanked out of the wall-socket. The sudden stop didn't seem to be tied to any particular task or application. I replaced the PSU about a month ago, figuring my issue stemmed from a faulty power-supply. Both the old and new PSU's are Thermaltake units. Neither of which had favorable reviews for quality or longevity... Having said that, the sudden shutting off of the PC is still present. I don't want to troubleshoot a PC that is 7 to 10 years old. System crash logs only show a log of a generic kernel number - I've asked this forum before for insight, but wasn't able to find a solution to the power problem. So it's time to move on...

I'm ready to build a new system.

I'm looking at the following for a new build:
GIGABYTE GA-AB350M-D3H AM4 AMD B350 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.1 HDMI Micro ATX

AMD RYZEN 5 1400 4-Core 3.2 GHz Socket AM4 65W

Seasonic FOCUS Plus Series SSR-550PX 550W 80+ Platinum ATX12V & EPS12V Full Modular PSU

G.SKILL Aegis 8GB 288-Pin DDR4 SDRAM DDR4 2666

Silicon Power M55 M.2 2280 120GB SATA III 3D NAND Internal SSD

5.25" Front panel All-in-1 Multifunction USB 2.0 card reader with 3 ports USB3.0,Type-C

The PC is essentially an internet browser, will use Adobe LightRoom, play simple RPG games like Torchlight, Torchlight 2.

I feel fairly confident that these components will build a stable machine. I'm fairly confident that it might, in fact, be more machine than I need. I'd rather under-utilize a machine, than under-build one. There's a small chance that I might get a recent version of AutoCAD from my employer too, as I've taken on a new position at work.

My current PC runs Windows10. I'm willing to purchase another retail version of the OS to install on the SSD, if finding a way to transfer from the HDD is going to be more trouble than it's worth. What would you suggest as far as handling the OS? Buy new?

Feel free to comment on what's right or wrong this my build components. And thanks again.

Solution
The 1500x boost speed is 3.7 vs 2400G 3.9

The mobo only got 2 ram slots. Go for a 4 ram slot mobo

Get 2x4gb ram. Make use of the dual channel memory. Huge performance increase.

The crucial mx500 performs much better than the wd blue ssd and is cheaper.

And more importantly, the included Vega 11 gpu in the 2400G performs about the same as the gtx 750ti. So you can save for a 1050ti or 1060/rx580 later. You can compare the performance of the 750ti and the embedded Vega.
Higher clock speeds, a bit faster :

Looks like PCpartPicker might save me a few bucks. What about shipping costs though, is that going to offset the reduced prices?

I'm tempted to stick with the beefier PSU. It seems to be one component that given me the most headaches.

with the new pc go with fast ram. it helps the cpu if the ram is fast. look at 3000/32000 speed ram. with a new mb your going to have to reload windows. depending on the version of windows 10. you can unregister it from one pc and then register it to another. your better off email microsoft support or talking to them. if you cant move your windows code to the new pc then you have to buy a new copy of windows. if you have a lot of personal files you can use few free online clound storage to back up your data or use a few large usb sticks. myself i would pick up one 8g usb stick and use the free windows media creator to keep and updated windows iso installer usb. on the ssd 120 is small windows take up 30g of your space by it self.

Changed things up a little bit. The GPU is the same as the one I already own. Purchase was already made. $760 taxes and shipping from Amazon.ca. Should have all my components by the end of the week. Should have it together by Saturday.

Thanks for the input. I'll keep you posted.
