Hello,

I am new to PC building. The RAM i have says its capable of going 2133mhz in frequency.

Running a 3930k i7 6-core CPU

The MSI Big Bang II Bios standard let it start in 1333mhz. I went to adjust the frequency to 1600mhz and without touching anything else it allowed it. Then I tried going up to the next 1866mhz level. I was not able to start and the settings went back to default.

I understand there must be more than just one step and adjustment i need to make in order to find a solution. Anybody know these steps?

Any help would do me wonders. Googling the problem doesn't seem to address the full issue.

Thanks.

Solution
Speed is not the only ram setting and needs to change timings and voltage to run that high. The easiest way would be to just select xmp and it'll set everything for you.

Thank you for the quick response.

I read about this xmp setting and i believe it will not allow me to set it differently.

The way it looks is transparent making the way to change it not activated.

Not sure if theres something that I can change to allow access to the xmp function.

Thanks again.
