[SOLVED] G Skill Aegis 3200 Mhz only goes up to 2666

Hey, recently I decided to upgrade my system memory from 16 to 48 GB with a 2x16 kit, as im doing a lot of machine learning on my pc. Anyways, yesterday my G Skill Aegis 2x16 3200 MHz CL16-18-18-18-38 kit arrived and I combined it with my Corsiar Vengance 3000 MHz kit thas was already present in the system. I have an AMD Ryzen 5 2600 and a B450 MSI motherboard: When I was booting I was not able to get past the EZ Debug light for CPU whenever i tried any configuration with more than 2400 MHz (I tried up to 1.4 V). When I removed the older 2x8 GB kit, I was not able to get past 2666 MHz. Before, my system was running on 3000MHz (I was not able to stable OC my old Corsair kit past 3000). Is it normal that advertised speeds are that much off? And should I return my RAM hoping that another kit will perform better? The website I bought it off is www.mindfactory.de, it is a well known computer hardware website in Germany and I always had good experiences with them so I doubt they were selling some kind of fake product on purpose. Or is there any thing else to maybe fix my problem?

There's no guarantee when mixing and matching RAM.

When you removed the old RAM and only ran the new 2x16 kit, did you move the RAM modules to the proper slots for when you only have two sticks?

Yes, I removed them to the correct slots

g skill aegis 2x16 3200Mhz doesnt list any msi b450 mainboards compatible, some x470 and b550/x570s are compatible but with ryzen 3000/5000 cpus

your mainboard doesnt list any dual sided sticks running at higher than 2933MHz when populating all 4 slots running with ryzen 2xxx cpu

Thanks, I guess that may be a problem. But then I am surprised that it makes THAT much of a difference.

first gen am4 was even worst at compatibility...second gen got better, but was still behind intel...from 3rd gen its comparable to intel (with compatibility) that includes better mainboard traces and cpu (memory controller) and ram vendors themselves do test current platforms (due to increased amd customer base)
its not like ram would not work at all, you can still run JEDEC speeds/timings or better, but for "advertised" speeds you have to look on which platform it can run and with how many sticks
