Yeah, really.
I'm still happy with 16GB for what I do, but it's good to know that if you need it, it's possible.

Nice RAM kits, those new Gskill RAM sticks look totally awsome!

It's amazing that 128GB of RAM in a desktop PC is now a thing and not a dream anymore.
define dream... this crap starts at 800$, and the closest comparable kit to this costs 1300+$
 
It's not always a matter of CPU power, but of applications. Server type computers, particularly those running multiple virtual machines, can chew through RAM quickly as each application running wants its own piece of the pie.
 

This is not server RAM. CPU and RAM are independent of each other. You don't need more or less of one to take advantage of the other necessarily. For working on large 4k video files for example, you could use a lot of that ram as a ram drive to speed up editing. Yes ideally if you bought all that ram you would also want a fast CPU to eliminate any bottleneck.

Servers commonly have 256GB ram and go up to 1.5TB
