Hey everyone,

I happened to get my hands on a dx79si mobo and my current rig is using two sets of g.skill F3-12800CL9D-4GBRL for a total of 8GB. Would this ram be compatible with the mobo? Or should I invest in some new RAM. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Solution
The F3-12800CL9D-4GBRL will work, but it won't work reliably on XMP and set the RAM Frequency, CAS Timings and DRAM Voltage per spec (DDR3-1600 9-9-9-24-2N @ 1.50v). RAM is dirt cheap, and if you can afford X79 then IMO get a matched 4x4GB kit. Example Corsair Vengeance or G.SKILL Ripjaws Z Series.

Hey thanks for the quick reply! I can't afford an x79. I happened upon one and some other hardware through a certain contest. I'm also in college and cannot afford new RAM so I just wanted to know if my current RAM will work while I save up for something better.

Cheers
