Hey guys,

I have a Gigabyte AX370 Gaming K7 with a Ryzen 1600, and 16GB G.Skill FlareX 3200MHz CL14 and it runs like a champ. I'd like to know if I could increase the RAM to 32GB and maintain the RAM stats? After reading the forums it looks like not. I know the Zen+ architecture handles memory better, but enough to do 3200MHz CL14? Thinking of getting a 2700X for my workload and gaming.

Thanks!

MBs with x470 chipset have been revised in other spheres too. Some of revisions include better traces path and routing for memory and in conjunction with second gen Ryzen handle faster RAM.
Another good thing about MBs with x470 (and most probably with b450) chipsets + Ryzen second gen also have XFR2 and Power Boost2 which in all practical terms gets 95 - 99% of performance of it's state when overclocked to maximum, making it unnecessary and easily attainable with included Wraith cooler.
It's going to be difficult with first series Ryzen and x370 chipset. You'll most probably have to settle for 3000(2933)MHz. Lower latency would be possible to mostly compensate for frquency difference.
To get everything possible out of 2700x you also need and x470 MB.

Thanks CountMike. So you think with Ryzen 2700X and X370, I could manage 3000MHz? I'd be happy with that. Also I read where X370/X470 doesn't really matter, it's to do with the MC on the new 2000 series being better? My Gigabyte AX370 Gaming K7 (which has been fantastic btw) is rated for up to 3600MHz RAM.

Thanks!
