Not sure what set you picked, so don't know, if you got a K model i7 it should run most any set at spec, however if you got a non-K i7 and the DRAM is 2400 or better, may have problems running it to full spec, for 2400 and up (sometimes 2133 and depending on the i7 even 1866) the non-K CPUs can have problems as depending on the CPU it may require a bit of an OC to run the higher freq DRAM at spec. Contrary to the above opinion, the motherboard does play in as far as DRAM, but the MC (memory controller) of the CPU is the more determining factor, i.e. a stock 4670 isn't going to be able (generally speaking) to run say 2666 DRAM at 2666 regardless of what mobo
