News G.Skill launches DDR5-9600 CUDIMM RAM, can hit DDR5-10000 in dual-channel mode on air cooling

I thought the default voltage of ddr5 memory is 1.1v. Apparently it is rated much higher.
JEDEC specifications (where the 1.1v comes from) are irrelevant for XMP/EXPO and voltages for those are generally only limited by platform.
It is. 1.45V is stupid high for DDR5.
Most DDR5 with low latency/high speed are 1.45v and those that aren't are mostly 1.4v. This is part of why DDR5 really needs cooling for maximum stability at high speeds/low latency.

If I remember correctly, with DDR4 you don't want to exceed 1.35Vmem without bumping the Vsoc because it lead to instability and sudden memory controller death.

I haven't heard anything like that for DDR5.
