Question G.Skill Neo vs non-Neo DDR5 RAM

I ordered a 2x16GB DDR5 kit and it was delivered today. But they sent an F5-6000J3636F16Gx2-RM5RW whereas my order was for an F5-6000J3636F16Gx2-RM5NRW. The difference is in the presence and absence of N towards the end of the model number, the N standing for Neo (new).

AFAICT they have identical specs, are both on the QVL for the motherboard + CPU combination, and are both dual XMP/EXPO compatible. I'm more curious than worried about the difference in performance and compatibility.

Does anyone know what the difference is?

Neo's are meant for AMD platforms. The Non-Neo's are geared towards Intel platforms. To that effect, the IC's will be different for both platforms as that's the only thing differentiating a kit to be geared towards a specific platform.

If the Intel kit runs on your AMD platform, then the performance difference might very well be negligible. If you look through some of the builds here, Intel based ram kits on AMD platforms are sometimes hit or miss. With the introduction of DDR5, people have been suggested to adhere to the QVL.
