G-Skill Ripjaws or Corsair Vengeance?

I'm currently deciding over 2 sets of RAM:
- G-Skill RipjawsX 8Gb (2x4Gb) 1600MHz DDR3 CL9 1.5V
or
- Corsair Vengeance 8Gb (2x4Gb) 1600MHz DDR3 CL9 1.5V

The price difference between these is £25 ($40 Approx.) I'm intending to overclock to 2000MHz but can't decide between the 2 any suggestions?

they'll be installed on an ASUS P8P67 Pro Rev 3.0 with an Intel i5 2500K

If you mean by what BIOS and settings? F3-12800CL7D-8GBXH running at 2133MHz 9-11-9-28-2T to 9-11-10-28-2T @ 1.6v~1.65v. IMO you might as well get the F3-17000CL9D-8GBXM for +$10.

It's best to OC the CPU when running 2133MHz RAM otherwise there's too much instability.

IF your goal is Gaming there's no advantages above DDR3 1600 CAS 8/9; the faster frequency is for multi-threaded Apps. For Gaming my favorites for SB -> $60!!!!! DDR3 1600 MHz 8-8-8-24

In that article there doesn't seem a significant difference in CL9 @ 2133MHz and CL9 @ 1600MHz.

I'll browser Ebuyer and see what they have in stock (I'm UK based unfortunately)

Yep, that's why I felt it was good for you to see for yourself. Nonetheless, the F3-12800CL8D-8GBXM are extremely good.

So really, it's down to personal preference/price to which I choose and there's no real need to overclock them?

This will change with the LGA 2011 and faster Frequencies will show a greater FPS, assuming per the rumor mill, the BCLK/Base Clock can OC 100-> 150 -> 175 MHz. The LGA 1155 is 'locked' at 100 MHz.

The kit I posted above is very good for other reasons, in contrast to the F3-12800CL9D-8GBXL CAS 9 2x4GB @ 1600MHz & 4x4GB @ 1333 MHz, you can run (2) sets of the F3-12800CL8D-8GBXM CAS 8 2x4GB -> 4x4GB at DDR3 1600 MHz.

Just be careful.

Sandy Bridge CPUs have such a great memory controller that it's not really necessary to get higher-speed memory to see great performance.

The price/performance sweet spot is 8GB (2x4GB) 1600 CL9 1.5v memory. You can certainly go for 2133 memory, but the small performance boost won't be worth the price premium.
