I was wondering which memory 8GB kit would be best for my Phenom II. I plan to upgrade to SB in the summer and 4Gb of ram is severly bottlenecking my system.

I have two options available:

1) Corsair Vengence 8GB 1600MHz kit: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820233144

2) G.Skill Ripjaws X 8GB 1600MHz kit: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231428

My current setup:

CPU: AMD Phenom II x4 955 BE @3.2 GHz
CPU Cooler: Cooler Master V6 GT
GPU: MSI HD 6950 Unlocked to 6970
GPU2: EVGA GTS 450 Superclocked for PhysX
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-MA790XT-UD4P (790X chipset)
Ram: 2x2GB DDR 3 Kingston KVR 1333MHz
PSU: Seasonic J-Series 750W with 24&8-pin NZXT extensions
SSD: OCZ Vertex 3 Max IOPS Edition 120 GB
HDD: WD Caviar Blue 500GB, WD Caviar Green 1TB
Optical drives: MSI DVD writer (IDE) & ASUS DVD writer (SATA)
Case: CM Storm Sniper
OS: Windows 7 SP1 64-bit

I'm primarily concerned about performance as price difference is negligible. I also want to know if these modules will fit under my V6GT

Thanks you in advance for your time & effort.

Go with the Ripjaws. The vengeance work great, but their heatsinks are ridiculously tall.

The performance on the Ripjaws are slightly better when OC is factored in as well.

Both sets of ram can fit under a hyper 212+, but only the G.Skill fit underneath my NH-D14
