Hi, how do I go about overclocking G. Skill Ripjaws X series 1600 ram to higher speeds and what speed should I run it at?

My system spec:
i7 4790k (4.0 GHz)
MSI Z97 G45-Gaming Mobo
Sapphire R9 290X Tri-X OC

You shouldn't, 1600mhz is the design specification memory speed of your 4790K.

If you want to run faster memory speeds, buy faster memory, but any speed past 1600mhz is overclocking your CPUs memory controller and adding additional heat to the CPU.
