G.skill Sniper series 8 gb Ram

I have the g.skill sniper series 8gb ram (4x2). I checked my ram and apparently only 3.98gb can be used out of the 8. I'm running Windows 10 64 bit. What's going on? Should I rma?

Shut down, and reseat both sticks, if needed swap the two slots they are in. Out of curiosity, what mobo are you using? Just to make sure they are in the right spots. Otherwise, check each stick in the same slot to see if the stick is bad, or the slot is bad before trying to RMA anything.

Well are you using a discreet graphics card or onboard????? What are your system specs Help us help you with this issue.... If your using onboard vid it will take some of your system memory also you most likely have one stick of ram not fully seated ... try reseating them and look again if the problem persist pull one stick out and see if the system works then remove that stick and replace with the other also your board what ever it may be see notes what are your system specs! should have 4 ram slots 2 may be colored blue 2 may be colored black make sure you have your ram install in either both blue or black slots only also see notes what are your system specs and what color are your ram slots hope this helps.

I updated my mobo bios, but still at 3.98 gb.. I'm going to switch stick into the other two slots to test it. The computer recognizes that there are 8 gigs of ram but on 3.98 s usable

Alright so I just switched the sticks in to the other two slots on mobo.. comp reads em as 8 gigs... i'll run some tests to ensure they're working..
