Is G.Skill Trident X 1866Mhz 16gb a good ram for gaming on intel 4790k? Is it good idea to downgrade 2400 MHz to 1866MHz? I don't want to shorten my CPU life span by this overclocked RAM.

F3-1866C8D-16GTX - http://www.gskill.com/en/product/f3-1866c8d-16gtx

It has 8-9-9-24 timings (i do not understand timing, but lower timing is better right? is this the one?)

my spec is;
CPU: Intel Core i7 4790k Quad Core @ 4GHz
Mobo: ASUS Maximus VII HERO
RAM: AMD Radeon R9 Gamer Series 8GB @ 2400MHz ( 11-12-12-31 )
GPU: ASUS GeForce GTX 970 Strix DirectCU II 4GB
PSU: EVGA SuperNOVA 750w G2 80 PLUS Gold

I had Radeon R9 Gamer Series for 2-3 years when I was on AMD CPU before as I was on FX-8350 but upgraded to Intel.

I think I need a better ram, but unsure which. Needs help please.

Yes it will be fine, the Tridents are the best line of DRAM I've found on Haswell, am running 2800 and 2666 in my Haswell builds. They are perfectly safe, and 2400 will provide better performance in gaming than 1866, it won't be a ton, up to about 10% depending on the game

Both would be fine. There won't be anoticeable difference for gaming.
