G-Sync and Multiple Monitors

Just a quick question really I have googled around but cannot find a straight answer. Will G-sync work with multiple monitors, if it does do all monitors have to have g-sync or can I have 1 main g-sync monitor with 2 normal ones either side, or do all 3 have to have g-sync.

Thanks for any help in advance.

Solution

I am not sure on that. Can you daisy chain 3 144hz monitors? Could you drop the monitors to 60hz and still get G-sync to...
The initial version of G-sync did not support multiple monitors. At CES, they showed G-sync working on a 4k monitor that was 2 monitors stitched together, and G-sync was working on the double display with 2 G-sync modules on it. (all 60hz 4k monitors are 2 displays in 1 btw). This shows G-sync can or will work with multiple monitors if it doesn't already.

All monitors have to have G-sync for G-sync to work on all your monitors (how else are the monitors going to have varying refreshes?).

Well, it only works through DisplayPort, and I have yet to see an Nvidia card with more than one DisplayPort, so I think this might just be a mental exercise. I believe each card would only be able to handle one G-sync monitor at a time, so to have three, you'd have to have three cards. I don't think it would be able to handle using the Surround functions, though, or SLi with more than one monitor.

So i will be able to daisy chain 3 monitors from one card with display port, as long as they all have g-sync?

The CES 4k monitor daisy chains the 2 stitched displays together before sending it to the video card, but they only work at 60hz.

3-way SLI may be the only way to get it to work. Look for future Nvidia cards to start coming with more displayports. That may be the best future solution, but for right this moment, this doesn't sound that appealing.

Solution
You could possibly daisy chain them if one comes out with both and in and and out port. So far, there is only one G-sync monitor announced, and it isn't even available yet, and it only has an in port.

Also, DisplayPort 1.2a only supports 3 monitors at 1920X1080 resolution at 60Hz refresh. It doesn't have enough bandwidth to do more than that. The only G-sync monitor announced so far is a 2560X1440 resolution. So, doing more than one of those off one port is not going work.

Just a quick opinion from you, get the 1440p 144hz g-sync monitor that was announced or stick with 3 standard not g-sync monitors?
