I too have missed a step somewhere along the way. I can however play games using the HDMI cable but when I switch over to DisplayPort my monitor says no signal and when I go to Nvidia control panel I no longer see the option for g-sync. I'm only able to get 50 htz. when I should be getting 100 . It's like having a Ferrari with two flat tires.

Monitor PG348Q
MOBO asus Z270F
1080ti fe card.
Cpu i7. 7700k.
Corsair vengeance DDR4 16 G.

Solution
Perhaps try this:

1) DDU https://www.guru3d.com/files-details/display-driver-uninstaller-download.html
- use the "recommended" option
- will remove your NVidia software as well

2) install the lastest NVidia software from NVidia driver site

Other:
It's also very possible the DP cable is defective, or one of the DP connections (monitor, GPU) is defective. May want to TEST that DP capable elsewhere if possible or borrow/buy another DP cable.

*Having said that, I doubt that's the issue since you also have an HDMI issue with the 50/100Hz. Maybe an NVidia setting, or is there any MONITOR settings on the monitor itself that may have been changed?

To be clear, some monitors may need you to manually change the video input from HDMI to DP on...

Thank you for your response I'm not so sure I want to go in that direction I do appreciate your input though. On the back of the monitor there are options for switching from DisplayPort to HDMI and when I go to HDMI it maxes out at 60 hertz.
I have this awesome monitor and computer and I can't even use it to its fullest potential. I did uninstalled everything yesterday involving Nvidia and reinstalled everything involving Nvidia and still no option for g-sync in the Nvidia control panel I'm thinking maybe I'll try a system restore next any input from someone with these issues would be greatly appreciated thanks everybody have a happy Father's Day
